Constitute Anti-Sexual Harassment Committees : Div Com to all DCs | KNO

SRINAGAR, MAY 29 (KNO) : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division to constitute district & block level and all government office level Anti-Sexual Harassment Committees in their respective districts so that mechanism to redress such offense at workplace will be put in place for speedy justice to victims.

The Div Com was speaking at a meeting in which all DCs of Kashmir Division participated via video conferencing while as Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar district, Assistant Commissioner Central, Deputy Director Planning and other officers were present in the meeting. The Divisional Commissioner further said everyone has a responsibility towards this sensitive issue, so every district, as well as block, will constitute SHCs by Deputy Commissioners. He said that the SHCs in the Departments must also be sensitized about the existing act on Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual harassment of women at the workplace. They must also be sensitized towards maintaining discipline in the government office campus. These committees will send the weekly report to the concerned Deputy Commissioner for timely disposal of the complaints.

Khan directed to generate mass awareness by holding seminars, debates, sessions so that women employees are equipped with necessary information about the filing of a complaint, tracking it and speedy justice to the victim. Besides proper mechanism will also be developed at workplaces to prevent instances of harassment of women employees. On the directions of Chief Minister, Div Com directed Deputy Commissioner ‘s of Anantnag and Baramulla district to start Ladies Special Bus service immediately for the benefit of local female students and employees.
